Terms and Conditions

1. Ownership and Intellectual Property

The Blue Paper Project Database (hereafter referred to as “the Database”) is the property of the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO). All images and information within the Database, including but not limited to descriptions, metadata, and artist information, are the intellectual property of the AGO or are used under specific permissions.

2. Permitted Use

The Database is intended for research, educational, and personal use only. Users may not use the Database or its content for commercial purposes without prior written consent from the AGO. Reproduction, distribution, or modification of the content within the Database is strictly prohibited unless explicitly permitted in writing by the AGO.

3. Access and Usage

Users must respect the integrity and purpose of the Database. Unauthorized access, data extraction, or attempts to disrupt its functionality are prohibited. Use of the Database constitutes acceptance of these Terms and Conditions.

4. Attribution Users are required to credit the Art Gallery of Ontario as the source when referencing content from the Database in any academic, professional, or public-facing work.

5. Changes to Terms

The AGO reserves the right to update or modify these Terms and Conditions at any time. Users are encouraged to review the Terms regularly.

6. Disclaimer

The AGO provides the Database on an “as is” basis and makes no guarantees regarding its accuracy, completeness, or fitness for a particular purpose. The AGO is not responsible for any errors or omissions in the Database or any consequences arising from its use.

7. Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of Ontario, Canada.

Fair Use Policy

The Blue Paper Project Database is made available to the public to foster learning, research, and engagement with the collection of the Art Gallery of Ontario. Users are encouraged to use the Database responsibly and in accordance with the following principles:

1. Educational and Research Use

Content within the Database may be used for non-commercial educational and research purposes, including classroom instruction, academic studies, and individual learning.

2. Prohibited Uses

The content of the Database may not be used for commercial purposes, including but not limited to advertising, resale, or any activity intended for financial gain. Users may not claim ownership of or misrepresent the content of the Database as their own.

3. Citation Guidelines

When using content from the Database in publications, presentations, or other public-facing work, proper attribution must be given. Please cite as follows:

4. Permissions for Reproduction

For uses beyond the scope of Fair Use, such as reproduction in commercial publications, exhibitions, or other derivative works, explicit written permission must be obtained from the AGO.

5. Respect for Artists and Copyright Holders

While all works in the Database are part of the AGO collection, copyright restrictions may still apply to some works. Users are responsible for ensuring compliance with any applicable copyright laws.

6. Feedback and Reporting Users are encouraged to provide feedback on the Database or report potential misuse by contacting the AGO at agopaperconservation@gmail.com.
